About

Award-winning mystery author. Survivor of the 2007 Peru earthquake.

I write across the mystery spectrum — from sharp, satirical detective fiction to suspenseful, emotionally layered crime novels — and one nonfiction memoir that started it all.

Hi, I’m Cristina.

AUTHOR & SURVIVOR

Award-winning mystery author, published author, and survivor of the 2007 earthquake in Peru.

I write across genres, with a focus on the mystery spectrum. My work ranges from sharp, satirical detective fiction to suspenseful, emotionally layered crime novels.

Crack the Case Books

INTERACTIVE WHODUNITS

My Crack the Case Books series turns the classic whodunit on its head: outrageous plots, multiple endings to choose from, and a blog written by the lead detective himself. Ned’s Notes serves up real-life forensic facts, behind-the-scenes case commentary, and snark. Lots of snark.

Cracked Andes Chronicles

PSYCHOLOGICAL SUSPENSE

The Cracked Andes Chronicles begins with Tremor in the Hills, a mystery novel inspired by my own experience surviving an 8.1 magnitude earthquake in Peru. It is the first in a psychological suspense trilogy about trauma, corruption, and what happens when you return to a place forever changed.

Never Shaken

MEMOIR & ANALYSIS

Beyond fiction, I am the author of Never Shaken, a traditionally published nonfiction memoir and analysis of humanitarian aid, informed by my experience during the 2007 Peru earthquake. It explores survival, crisis response, and future-making: women’s power for survival.
